1991-93 Chevrolet Caprice / Caprice Classic

1991,92,93 Chevrolet Caprice / Caprice Classic stereo removal instructions to help you remove your radio fast!

Radio Removal:
1)Remove the (2) screws from along the bottom of the dash which secure the service panel (driver's side).  Pull down on the panel to release the (4) clips and remove the panel.
2)Carefully pry off the trim piece from above the glove box.  Remove the screw located behind the trim location.
3)Remove the (3) screws from the dash bezel (underside of dash pad).
4)Remove (1) screw from the lower left inside corner of the glove box.
5)Remove (1) screw from the parking brake release cavity.
6)Work around the perimeter of the dash bezel and release all the spring clips.  Tilt the steering wheel down, place the shifter into low and remove the dash bezel.
7)Remove the (3) screws securing the radio, disconnect the connectors and remove the radio.

The 2 main things you will need when installing your new stereo is a wiring adapter and a dash kit.

Wiring Adapter

The wiring adapter is a piece which has a plug on one end and wiring sticking out of the other end. The plug connects to the factory wiring, and the wires are connected to the matching color wiring on the new stereo. This allows for connecting a new stereo without having to cut the factory wires.

Stock stereos have varying sizes, and if you just place an aftermarket stereo in the hole left by a stock stereo then there will be gaps around the stereo. The dash kit is a plastic piece which fits into the hole left by the stock stereo and fills in the gaps between the aftermarket stereo and the dash.
